1 Killed, 2 Injured as man opens fire on wedding gathering in Kano

One person was killed while three others sustained injuries when a middle-aged man, identified as Rabiu Mukthar, allegedly opened fire on a wedding gathering in Kano.
The incident, which occurred earlier in the week, took place at Tudun-Yola Quarters in the Kano metropolis.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident, said the prime suspect and another person had been arrested.
He added that the pump-action gun allegedly used in the shooting had also been recovered.
According to Kiyawa, the suspect emerged from his house while music was being played at the wedding ceremony and opened fire on the people gathered at the event.
“The man came out from his house while the music was booming at the marriage ceremony and opened fire on the people,” he said.
The police spokesman explained that the suspect told investigators that the organisers of the wedding ceremony did not consult him or other residents before holding the event in the neighbourhood.
He reportedly claimed that the loud music from the ceremony disturbed his sleep.
The shooting resulted in the death of one person, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Kiyawa said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department( SCID)for further investigation.
He assured that all suspects found culpable would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
