A 26-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly cutting off her boyfriend’s manhood after discovering that he planned to marry another woman.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspect, an indigene of Maigatari Local Government,Jigawa State, allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a knife at Daula Hotel in the Badawa area of Kano after confirming his intention to end their relationship and marry another woman.
The statement said the management of the hotel promptly alerted the police, who swiftly responded to the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in committing the offence as an exhibit.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The police spokesman said investigations into the incident were ongoing, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The statement further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police condemned the act, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, and warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands under any guise, urging residents to always seek lawful means of resolving disputes.
