The Ogun State Commissioner of Police(CP) Bode Ojajuni, has successfully completed the Executive Training Programme for Commissioners of Police, themed: “Enhancing Strategic Communication, Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Public Relations and Excellence in the Nigeria Police Force,” and has been inducted into the Institute of Conflict Management and Negotiation Analysts (ICMNA).
The training programme, coordinated by the Department of Training and Development under the leadership of DIG Isyaku Mohammed, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Public Relations School headed by retired Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu, was designed to strengthen leadership capacity and strategic communication among senior police officers.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for a more professional, people-centred and strategically communicative Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Ojajuni expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for introducing the programme, describing it as a strategic investment in leadership development and institutional excellence.
According to the Commissioner, the training has equipped senior police officers with the skills required to improve public engagement, strengthen media relations and build greater trust between the Police and the communities they serve.
He emphasised the importance of effective communication in modern policing, noting that public confidence can only be sustained when the Police communicate transparently and consistently.
“We need to actually tell our stories, communicate effectively, and make sure Nigerians actually believe whatever the Police are saying, because our primary duty is to serve them with the utmost efficiency, and our service delivery must be excellent,” Ojajuni said.
He reiterated his commitment to applying the knowledge acquired during the programme in advancing community policing, promoting professionalism and enhancing service delivery in Ogun State.
The induction into the Institute of Conflict Management and Negotiation Analysts is expected to further strengthen the capacity of the Ogun State Police Command in conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication, in line with the reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police.
