The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murders of retired, Ogun State Television(OGTV) broadcaster, Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38, whose bodies were discovered at her Abeokuta residence on June 21, 2026.
A 22-year-old former security guard, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, has confessed to masterminding the murder of his former employer, Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38, at her residence in Owode-Egba, Ogun State, stating that the killing was meant to “teach her a lesson” following grievances during his time in her employment.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, made this known at a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, disclosing that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the gruesome double murder.
CP Ojajuni, said that ,” on June 21, 2026, at about 4:00pm, police detectives mobilised to the residence following a report of suspicious circumstances found the lifeless body of Adetayo inside the security house, while the body of Madam Oyesiku was discovered lying in a pool of blood in the living room. A Lexus RX 330 vehicle belonging to the deceased was also found missing from the compound.
“The Command immediately launched intensive investigation, intelligence gathering, and technical tracking operations. The missing vehicle was recovered on June 22, 2026, at Onikolobo area of Ogun State. Although the ignition key had been removed and the registration plates detached, detectives found the plates concealed beneath one of the seats, confirming the vehicle as belonging to the deceased.
“A critical breakthrough came from a handwritten note recovered at the crime scene. The note was subjected to forensic examination, generating investigative leads that helped detectives identify and trace those responsible.
“On June 24, 2026, the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
” Follow-up operations led to the arrest of his two accomplices Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
“During interrogation, Philip made a confessional statement admitting that he recruited Ayoola and Obafunsho to carry out the attack on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
” According to his statement, the trio first overpowered Adetayo the security guard and used him to gain access to the residence, after which they attacked and killed Madam Oyesiku before also murdering the guard.
“After committing the crime, the suspects fled in the deceased’s vehicle. Further searches at locations linked to the suspects led to the recovery of a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, a black pen, and other relevant exhibits.”
CP Ojajuni emphasised that while the suspects have made useful statements and substantial evidence has been recovered, all suspects remain entitled to due process under the law.
” Investigation is ongoing to consolidate evidence and ensure diligent prosecution.”
